19/01/2011 - NEW COTTAGE - Yewdale Cottage, Coniston Village (Sleep 2-4)

Built originally about 30 years ago, Yewdale Cottage is close to the village centre, all the amenities and a short walk to the lake, but lies in a quiet close with good views of the Yewdale Fells to its rear.

The owners have recently spent much time refurbishing this lovely mid-terraced cottage, which has new gas fired central heating, and a new bathroom, new en-suite shower room and a new kitchen.

19/12/2010 - Road conditions, today in Coniston

Coniston Village centre at noon today..!

Despite the recent snow, the roads in Coniston are mainly clear of snow, thanks to our own and local gritting and clearing work !

Most of our cottages are easily accessible, our own gritting and 'digger team' can always help if there are any issues.

and.....we have blue skies and brilliant sunshine !

01/12/2010 - The Coppermines Grizedale Stages Rally- Hospitality

The Coppermines Grizedale Stages Rally

WE ARE SORRY TO REPORT THAT THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO HARD PACKED SNOW ON THE FOREST ROADS.

PLEASE NOTE THAT CONISTON AND THE SOUTH LAKES ARE FULLY ACCESSIBLE BY ROAD, EXCEPT FOR THE HIGH MOUNTAIN PASSES. THE WEATHER FORECAST FOR THIS WEEKEND IS FINE AND SUNNY.

WE DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER ROADS BLOCKED AT THE MOMENT.

THE 2011 COPPERMINES GRIZEDALE STAGES RALLY WILL TAKE PLACE ON THE 25th NOVEMBER 2011

THE FURNESS MOTOR CLUB, who voluntarily organise the rally have spent all morning today,checking the stages and have unfortunately had to come to the decision to cancel the event due great concerns over the safety of rally competitors, spectators and marshalls.

(The Coppermines Grizedale Stages Rally 2010 was to take place over the weekend of Friday 3rd December 2010

This years rally was to have featured a new 7-mile stage in the dark on Friday evening in Grizedale Forest. This is in addition to the further 35 miles of stages that takes place on Saturday in Grizedale and Dunnerdale.

For guests staying in our cottages we were delighted to offer free trackside hospitality on both Friday evening and throughout the day on Saturday.

The cars would normally pass our hospitality area three times over the weekend)

22/10/2010 - NEW - - Wi-Fi At The Coppermines Mountain Cottages

The Coppermines Mountain Cottages

Following requests from our guests we have now installed Wi-Fi internet access at The Coppermines Mountain Cottages.

The introduction of Wi-Fi at the cottages means that guests can go online to download route maps and gps co-ordinates for navigation, check the latest weather forecasts and of course keep to date with Twitter or Facebook!

Within the next few weeks we will also be introducing Wi-Fi access at The Bridge Cottages in Coniston village and we are also encouraging other cottages to introduce it this winter.

18/10/2010 - Veteran Car Club Rally - 16th & 17th October 2010

1910 Maxwell Model E Tourer

Fine weather ensured that The Veteran Car Club of Great Britain, North West Section enjoyed a beautiful two day rally around the Lake District.

Sights included a private tour of Wray Castle, afternoon tea at Brantwood (home of John Ruskin), a sheepdog demonstration and a private trip on the steam yacht 'Shamrock'.
