The Coppermines & Lakes - Heritage

What's New

18/04/2005 - NEW LISTING - GATE HOUSE, CONISTON

A Period, mainly Georgian, House.
Sleeps 2 - 6 ( Three Bedrooms )-
A five minute walk from the village.

Pets Welcome

This is a spacious, very comfortable period Georgian house adjoining two other cottages overlooking the fields and Church Beck. It is in a quiet, very rural lane a third of a mile from the village centre, towards Coppermines Valley.
This beautiful old house has recently had many of its attractive historic features re-exposed, including its period fireplaces, pine floors & doors and original slate floors to the kitchen. It has early associations with the family who developed the nineteenth century Coppermines, and was the home in the early twentieth century to the famous lakes artist Alfred Heaton Cooper - who at that time renamed it "Sondheim"
It is personally cared for by the owner, who has lavished much care on its restoration and has recently installed gas central heating
